Character design includes: unique design creating distinctive character with recognizable silhouette, color palette selecting colors fitting game world and aiding visibility, detail level balancing detail with performance and animation complexity, and variations if needed, alternate skins, costumes, or evolutionary forms. Animation set includes: idle animation subtle breathing or movement when stationary, walk cycle smooth walk animation looping seamlessly, run cycle faster movement for sprinting or fleeing, jump rising, air, and landing animations, attack animation 1-3 attack animations with anticipation and follow-through, hit/damage stagger or recoil when taking damage, death animation dramatic death with optional ragdoll or dissolve, and special abilities unique animations for special moves or powers. Rigging (if 3D or bone-based 2D) includes: skeleton setup creating bone structure for animation, inverse kinematics if appropriate, IK for natural limb movement, weight painting binding mesh to bones smoothly, and control rig providing animator-friendly controls.
